Founded in 1989 on the south- eastern side of Montalcino, in 2011 Poggio di Sotto became proudly part of the ColleMassari family. The estate extends over 44 hectares, 16 of which are vineyards register to produce Brunello di Montalcino and 4 hectares for olive groves. The vineyards run along a steep slope between 200 mt up to 400 asl. Protected by Monte Amiata, opened towards sea breeze, the property enjoys a unique microclimate. The training system is cordon spur, the very low yield of about 3-3.5 tons per hectares is due to strict cluster selection. Manual selection and harvest. The spontaneous fermentation takes place in 7 tons up write wooden vats, with extended maceration and frequent pumping over. The ageing period in 3 tons Slavonian Oak casks is 2 years for Rosso, 4 years for Brunello and 5 for Riserva, following a period of bottle ageing. The Estate is run according to the organic farming, certified.
